20 new ONEX escort/terminal tugs with SCHOTTEL

SCHOTTEL will supply a total of forty RudderPropellers type SRP 490 FP for a new series of twenty Robert Allan RAstar 2800 escort tugs.

SCHOTTEL has been awarded a significant contract by ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group to supply rudderpropellers for a new series of twenty RAstar 2800 tugs, which will be built in Elefsina shipyard, Greece. The order includes the delivery of a total of forty azimuth thrusters, as each of the ASD tugs will be fitted with two SCHOTTEL RudderPropellers type SRP 490 FP.

SCHOTTEL is expanding its international network with the establishment of a new subsidiary in India. With SCHOTTEL India Sales and Service Private Limited, the German propulsion expert is further strengthening its presence in a rapidly developing maritime market and creating the basis to deepen collaboration with local customers and partners.

SCHOTTEL propulsion for Chinese LNG bunkering vessels

SCHOTTEL has been selected to supply rudder propellers for two new LNG bunkering vessels operated by Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG). The ships, each with a loading capacity of 20,000 cbm, are currently under construction at Jiangnan Shipyard in China and scheduled for delivery in April 2027.

SCHOTTEL powers Mureloil’s hybrid tankers

SCHOTTEL has been selected to provide the propulsion package for Bahía Beatriz, an 8,000 DWT hybrid chemical tanker. Specifically designed for bunkering operations and terminal-to-terminal fuel transport, the vessel was built by Spanish shipyard Astilleros de Murueta. Bilbao-based shipowner Mureloil officially launched the vessel in February 2026.

Northern Lighthouse Board’s newest ship powered by SCHOTTEL

SCHOTTEL is proud to have been chosen by Spanish shipyard GONDAN to provide the propulsion package for the Northern Lighthouse Board’s (NLB) newest vessel POLE STAR. The ship was officially named on 21 January 2026 by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Patron of the Northern Lighthouse Board.

The POLE STAR is designed to conduct hydrographic surveys as well as buoy and lighthouse servicing across Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Full SCHOTTEL propulsion package for Polish Navy rescue vessel

The new Polish Navy rescue vessel “Ratownik”, currently under construction at PGZ Stocznia Wojenna, will be equipped with a comprehensive propulsion package supplied by SCHOTTEL. Designed to replace the Navy’s existing rescue units, the ship will significantly enhance submarine crew rescue capabilities and strengthen the protection of subsea infrastructure in the Baltic Sea. The launch is scheduled for 2027, with delivery to the Polish Navy in 2029.

Roland Schwandt appointed new CEO

On January 1, 2026, Roland Schwandt took over as CEO of German propulsion expert SCHOTTEL GmbH from Stefan Kaul as part of an orderly succession plan. Christian Bock was appointed Deputy CEO. In the future, Stefan Kaul will focus on production and materials management for the German production facilities in Dörth and Wismar and will continue to support the new management with his many years of experience.
