Commissioning

Cast off!

Commissioning ensures that a vessel is fit for its future tasks. As far as propulsion is concerned, this service is usually part of the sale of new SCHOTTEL propulsion systems and upgrades. Commissioning is also offered by SCHOTTEL when propulsion units are put back into service on reactivated vessels. Commissioning services include:

  • Preparation and coordination of the assignment together with the customer or the yard
  • Inventory of the cabling of systems, oil fills, shaft alignments, etc., installed by the yard
  • Commissioning of the control cabinets, hydraulics and bridge systems as well as the interfaces to the engine, alarm system, DP system, VDR, autopilot, etc.
  • HAT (Harbor Acceptance Test): Testing of all systems in the port/at the pier with the customer and classification society
  • SAT (Sea Acceptance Test): Sea trial with running-in procedure, endurance run, re-testing of the complete control system including emergency functions and, in some cases, bollard pull or speed trial.

Commissioning is completed with the written acceptance of the propulsion system by the customer and classification society.
