SCHOTTEL propulsion for Popes Rhine cruise
When Pope Benedict XVI embarks on the passenger vessel RheinEnergie near Cologne this afternoon (17 August 2005), SCHOTTEL propulsion units will ensure that he has a smooth ride. Many of the KD Kln-Dsseldorf lines passenger vessels are fitted with propulsion systems from this company with its headquarters in Spay/Rhine. The RheinEnergie, completed in 2004, has two SCHOTTEL Twin-Propellers of type STP 440. As the name suggests, these propulsion units each have two propellers.
The noise and vibration levels are very low a most advantageous characteristic for use in passenger vessels, and particularly on this occasion, when the Pope will address the faithful from on board.
