Eleven Russian dry cargo vessels propelled by SCHOTTEL


SCHOTTEL has secured a contract with Russian Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard to provide propulsion units for eleven newly built cargo vessels (see photos of sister vessel)

SCHOTTEL has secured a contract with Russian Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard to provide propulsion units for eleven newly built cargo vessels. Each of the carriers will be equipped with two rudderpropellers type SRP 340 FP (1,200 kW each) and one transverse thruster type STT 170 FP (230 kW).

 

The main propulsion of the multipurpose dry cargo vessels consists of a pair of diesel engines, each driving a SRP 340 FP with an input power of 1,200 kW at 1,000 rpm for a free sailing speed of approximately 10 knots.

 

Capacity of more than 11,200 m³ per vessel
The 141.0 m long and 16.9 m wide vessels designed by the Russian company Marine Engineering Bureau offer a capacity of 11,200 m³ as well as 7,445 dwt at sea (draught 4.50 m) and 5,112 dwt in river (draught 3.60 m). Moreover, the new vessels are characterized by a particularly high block coefficient, ensuring the best combination of speed, load capacity and required propulsive power.

 

Transporting dry cargo in Russia
Each of the self-propelled dry cargo vessels has two cargo holds, intended for the carriage of general containerized cargo, timber, grain, oversize cargo and dangerous goods. The carriers will transport dry cargo over Russian rivers (such as the Volga and the Don) as well as the Mediterranean, Black and Caspian Seas.
