SCHOTTEL Retractable RimThruster

Flexible, quiet, environmentally friendly – the extendible version of the successful SCHOTTEL RimThruster is suitable for a wide range of applications and ensures high propulsion power with maximum comfort on board. Like the SRT, the SRT-R also features minimum noise and vibration. This makes the propulsion unit particularly suitable for vessels that regularly carry passengers, for example, yachts or passenger ships.

IN DETAIL

Reduced cavitation risk

The SRT-R is able to cover a thrust radius of 360 degrees. This allows it to be optimally adapted to any requirement and operation profile, including DP operation or as a take-home device. In retracted position, no additional flow resistance is generated. In addition, the internal propeller blades have been optimized using CFD calculations and hydrodynamically designed to be extremely cavitation-resistant. In turn, this ensures extremely quiet operation.

Variant

SCHOTTEL Retractable Tunnel RimThruster

The retractable SCHOTTEL RimThruster is also available as an RT variant. This means that in retracted position it can also be used as a transverse thruster, making it highly effective in shallow water. A special feature of this variant is its enhanced manoeuvrability: It enables applications ranging from brief docking and casting-off in ports to continuous operation with dynamic positioning, for example, for following the sun on a yacht in DP mode. An exceptionally short response time also ensures precise dynamic positioning. Additional safety is provided by the available function as take-home system.
