When Pope Benedict XVI embarks on the passenger vessel RheinEnergie near Cologne this afternoon (17 August 2005), SCHOTTEL propulsion units will ensure that he has a smooth ride. Many of the KD Kln-Dsseldorf lines passenger vessels are fitted with propulsion systems from this company with its headquarters in Spay/Rhine. The RheinEnergie, completed in 2004, has two SCHOTTEL Twin-Propellers of type STP 440. As the name suggests, these propulsion units each have two propellers.
The noise and vibration levels are very low a most advantageous characteristic for use in passenger vessels, and particularly on this occasion, when the Pope will address the faithful from on board. |
