Ships are complex systems whose propulsion plants have to meet the highest standards in terms of operational reliability and economy. Tailor-made propulsion concepts therefore require extensive experience and competence. We not only develop and manufacture propulsion and manoeuvring systems but also offer comprehensive advice in the planning phase of these projects: from the appraisal of the ship lines to propulsion calculation and planning of system installation, our engineers determine optimum solutions.

Whereas in the early days no funds were available for large-scale scientific research and investigations and therefore all values had to be empirically determined, the SCHOTTEL team now uses state-of-the-art resources and methods to design the optimum, user-oriented propulsion solution. In so doing, we also co-operate closely with renowned research institutes both in Germany and abroad.
